Rancho San Julian Wedding

American actress and director – love story in Los Angeles

It happened, as these things often do, when we both least expected it. Within five minutes of meeting Sorel, I knew my life was going to change forever. We hit it off immediately, then danced all night to David Bowie. After that night, we were inseparable. We spent the next seven days in a row together. We couldn’t get enough.

Ceremony & reception at a 200-year-old Spanish ranch

A friend recommended the San Julian Ranch near Santa Barbara, one of the oldest family-run ranches in California. We loved the look and feel of it, especially the beautiful, giant oak tree under which we ended up having our ceremony. We wanted the reception to feel very intimate and personal, so we picked out every design element ourselves. Our guests sat on rustic benches lined with pots of fresh lavender, and dinner took place outside under a vine-covered trellis with hanging Spanish moss.

Hollywood dress & shoes

Wedding dress was a vintage cotton organza gown from the 1930s, with hand- embroidered floral appliqués. The shoes were Chanel. My mom gifted me a gorgeous Victorian-era lace veil, which tied the whole outfit together. My reception dress was a vintage beaded and fringed Naeem Khan – perfect for dancing!

Carradine – family of stars

Sorel is part of a Hollywood acting dynasty. Her grandfather, John Carradine, worked regularly with legendary directors. Sorel’s uncles, David (Bill in “Kill Bill”, and star of “Kung Fu”) and Bobby (“Revenge of the Nerds”), and her father, Keith (an Oscar-winner for “Nashville”, and also seen in TV shows like “Deadwood” and “Dexter”) continued the tradition. John and David are no longer with us, but Keith and Bobby were both at our California ceremony.
